Kickstarter - The Vanderbilt Republic: “The Mechanical”

Round Two: The first project by The Vanderbilt Republic, “Masters”, which I’ve written about before, wrapped up last year as the biggest project ever funded through Kickstarter, at a hair over their goal of $50,000. The members of the team went to Cambodia to document the works of the Cambodian Living Arts foundation, which has the goal of restoring Cambodia’s native artistic traditions which were largely eradicated during the Khmer Rouge’s vicious reign. This project is much smaller, an epilogue of sorts. The Mechanical is a unique compilation of their work. You really have to follow the link to see it. It’s a handbound compilation of many of the photos they took, a very beautiful presentation of their gorgeous and meaningful work. This Kickstarter project goal is set much lower, only $5000, and you get your own and a binding kit for only $50. Take a minute to consider it, the bindings are darn near one of a kind, and $50 is a steal for for this kind of workmanship even ignoring the charitable aspect.
